Candidate Comparisons

Candidate Comparisons: Texas House Districts 13 & 56

The Texas Legislature is responsible for funding and regulating Texas Public Schools.

This year on November 5, McLennan County voters will have the chance to vote in one of two races that will affect the Texas Legislature.

We have evaluated the candidates in these races based on the information we have so far about these 3 criteria:

  • We are looking for candidates who will support fully funding public schools.
  • We are looking for candidates who will vote NO on school vouchers.
  • We are looking for candidates who are focused on the real concerns facing public schools, not spreading harmful, unfounded narratives that undermine trust.

Here is what we found...

Tx House District 13: Albert Hunter vs. Angelia Orr

Texas House District 13 represents most of East Waco and several surrounding counties.  The candidates running for the seat are Albert Hunter and Angelia Orr.  Orr is the incumbent.

Tx House District 56: Erin Shank vs. Pat Curry

Texas House District 56 represents most of McLennan County except for East Waco. The candidates running for the seat are Erin Shank and Pat Curry.  It is an open seat previously held by Doc Anderson who retired, so there is no incumbent.
