Vote for ALL Kids 101
Vote for ALL Kids is not a non-profit. It’s not a PAC. It’s not a professional lobbying organization. It is a group of people in McLennan County who believe in Public Schools. We believe strong public schools make strong communities. Strong public schools are the foundation of democracy, and the foundation of a thriving economy. Public Schools provide this extraordinary value because they serve ALL Kids. We would not get the same value for our society by serving just a few kids.
Public schools in Texas are funded and regulated by the Texas legislature. If we want high quality public education for ALL kids in Texas, we must elect legislators who will prioritize public schools.
For this next election, November 5, 2024, that means people in McLennan County who care about public schools need to be paying attention to two races for seats in the Texas House of Representatives:
We want to make it as easy as possible for people who care about public schools to vote for candidates for the Texas Legislature who will prioritize and public schools.
Here is what we plan to do:
1. Evaluate the Candidates
Which candidates will do the best job of prioritizing and supporting public schools? Currently we are evaluating candidates based on these three criteria:
-
- We are looking for candidates who will support fully funding public schools.
- We are looking for candidates who will vote NO on school vouchers.
- We are looking for candidates who are focused on the real concerns facing public schools, not spreading harmful, unfounded narratives that undermine trust.
2. Identify and connect with voters
We are talking to as many people as we can who care about public school and signing them up on our email list so that we can get them the information they need to vote for candidates who will prioritize public school. Here’s the link to sign up: Vote for ALL Kids Sign Up Form. Please share!
3.Share information
We will scour the information available about the candidates for Texas House Districts 13 & 56 and send you the information that is pertinent to public schools. We will also send you information about important issues that are likely to be considered in the upcoming legislative session.
4. Get out the vote
When it gets time to vote we will make sure you have the information you need about when to vote, where to vote, what ID you need to bring, and anything else we can think of that will make it easier for you to get out and vote.
5. Keep watch
When the legislative session starts, we will keep watch on our representatives and report back to you what they are doing regarding public school.
That’s it! That’s what we are all about – electing candidates to the Texas Legislature who will prioritize and support public schools. The only way we can do that is vote by vote! If you have not already joined us, please do. Here is the link: Vote for ALL Kids Sign Up Form. If you are already on the list, please share the link and encourage others to join.
If we want strong public schools in Texas, we don’t have to wail and wring our hands. We don’t have to trade nasty posts on Facebook. We don’t have to march around protesting. We don’t have to raise a bunch of money.
We just have to get ourselves informed, and vote.
We have to encourage others to do the same.
We can do that…it’s not even that hard.
Let’s do it! For our kids and for our community!
