Vouchers to come up for debate on the TX House Floor on Wednesday, April 16 – Time for a few more emails and calls!
Here is a list of TX House Representatives who are thought to have enough concern for public school that it might be possible to convince them to oppose the House Voucher Bill.
One possible strategy is to ask that they oppose vouchers or at the very least require that vouchers be placed on the ballot for the people of Texas to vote directly.
Here is the email I am sending:
Dear Representative ____________,
I’m sure you agree that Texas students deserve the best schools in the country! Unfortunately, the proposed voucher bill is a distraction from that goal.
If we have $1 Billion dollars to spend on education, we should be spending it on improving our public schools.
Please oppose the voucher bill. Or, at the very least require that it be placed on the ballot for the people to Texas to vote.
A ballot initiative would show clearly that Texans want to pay for public school for all Texas kids, not private school for a few.
Thank you!
